Goal
The goal of TriRiver Water's two water reclamation facilities is to provide countywide treatment of residential and commercial wastewater to ensure compliance with the changing environmental regulations.
Facilities Overview
The Water Reclamation Facility located in Sanford has a permitted capacity of 12 million gallons per day. The plant is an advanced treatment facility with:
- Aeration tanks
- Ultraviolet disinfection
- Clarifiers
- Filters
- Pretreatment facilities
- Solids handling facility
- State-certified laboratory
The treated wastewater from TriRiver Water's reclamation facility in Sanford, NC discharges through an outfall pipe into the Deep River near Cumnock. The solids are removed from the wastewater and are applied to permitted farmland in Lee County and surrounding areas. The solids provide moisture, nutrients, and conditioning to the soil for farmers.
The water reclamation facility located in Pittsboro, NC has a permitted operating capacity of 750,000 gallons of wastewater per day. Treated wastewater from the TriRiver Water reclamation facility in Pittsboro discharges into Roberson Creek.
