A water pressure boost is coming to homes in the Homewood Acres neighborhood of Siler City, and people living there are eligible to receive a free pressure reducing valve (PRV).
You can pick up your PRV at Siler City Town Hall (311 N 2nd Ave, Siler City, NC, 27344). TriRiver Water representatives in the water billing department are authorized to distribute the PRVs.
Siler City Town Hall is open 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. If you are unable to get to Siler City Town Hall during normal business hours, please call TriRiver Water Engineering at 919-777-1122.
After you get your PRV, it will need to be installed. If you’re experienced with plumbing repairs, you may opt to install the PRV yourself. Please note that you may need to contact Chatham County to confirm proper permitting procedures. Otherwise, you can always contact a certified plumber to complete the work.
TriRiver Water initially intended to ramp up the pressure in Homewood Acres in October. However, permitting from state regulators has taken longer than expected. As soon as state regulators give final approval for the plan, the pressure increase process will begin. We expect this to happen in the coming weeks or months. That means time is running out for Homewood Acres residents to get and install their PRV. If you have not gotten or installed your PRV yet, please do so immediately.

What’s a PRV?
PRVs are devices that can be installed on a home’s plumbing system to help regulate the water pressure coming into the home.
Residential plumping code calls for homes to have a maximum water pressure of 80 psi. Higher pressure could cause problems with pipes or appliances that use water.
Why do I need a PRV?
TriRiver Water is going to increase the water pressure for people living in the Homewood Acres neighborhood.
That area has dealt with chronically low water pressure for years. TriRiver Water developed a plan that will increase water pressure to all homes in the area.
Some people may like their water pressure as it is now, or they may be concerned that older pipes or appliances in their home won’t be able to handle the increased pressure. In either case, a PRV can be installed on their home to regulate the pressure.
