Goal
The Fats, Oils and Grease "FOG" Program has been in effect since 2003. The program's goal is to prevent the accumulation of fats, oils, and grease in the sanitary sewer system.
Purpose
The purpose of this program is to enable the city to comply with applicable state and federal laws. The program also aids in the prevention of sanitary sewer destruction, blockages, and obstructions from the contribution and accumulation of fats, oils, and grease into the sanitary sewer system from industrial and/or commercial establishments, particularly food preparation and serving facilities.
Participation
To date, 227 commercial facilities are active participants in the program.
Annually, more traps are installed and inspected. Through routine maintenance, over 800,000 gallons of grease-containing fluids are removed.
