Leak Adjustment Guidelines
As a courtesy, TriRiver Water does offer an opportunity for a bill adjustment due to an unforeseen leak. When a property owner discovers a leak, he/she must take immediate steps to correct the situation. Undue delay will result in forfeiture of the adjustment benefits.
Please note that the following causes of leaks/high usage do not qualify for a leak adjustment:
- Outside water hoses
- Irrigation uses
- Seasonal usage such as watering of sod, gardening, whirlpools, washing vehicles, etc
- Hot water heaters (unless it leads to an excess amount of water usage)
- Appliances (i.e., refrigerators, ice machines, washing machines, dishwashers, etc.) (unless it leads to an excess amount of water usage)
- Vandalism of unoccupied/occupied home
- Filling the pool & cracks in the pool
To be considered for a water and sewer leak adjustment, the following conditions and/or requirements must be met.
- Customer notifies the TriRiver Water Customer Service department of the potential leak within a reasonable time.
- Customer account must be current with no outstanding balance.
- Proof the leak was repaired (a copy of the plumber’s repair bill or a sales receipt for parts or materials purchased is acceptable).
- A leak occurred on the customer’s side of the meter.
- Excess amount of water usage to qualify for a leak adjustment.
- One adjustment is allowed in a rolling 12-month period. Additionally, if the leak was in progress at the time of reading of meters and was reflected on two separate consecutive bills, both bills may be adjusted.
Additional Information:
Adjustments may take up to seven business days to process before your account is adjusted. TriRiver Water strongly encourages applying for leak adjustments before bills become due, not on a late fee or cut-off day due to the amount of time to process. Late fees incurred due to non-payment of bill amounts will not be waived.
