Starting July 1, 2025, TriRiver Water will take over the responsibility of providing water and wastewater service to the Town of Siler City.
The merger was talked about and worked on for years before Siler City Board of Commissioners officially approved it in October 2024. The agreement designated July 1, 2025 as the date when TriRiver Water would take over operations from the town.
TriRiver Water was created in 2024 when Sanford and Pittsboro merged utility services in an effort to strengthen and improve their water utilities. The addition of Siler City and Chatham County (both joining July 1) will continue to strengthen the resilience of the region’s water system and allow for continued development and economic growth in the area.

New TriRiver Water customers will not notice any disruption or change in service when the merger officially happens. Customers will not have to pay any transfer or rollover fees. However, your billing account number will change, as well as possibly where and how you pay your bill.
New account numbers will be available starting July 8. You will see your new account number on your August bill, or you can call 919-775-8215 after July 8 to get your new account number. Please note that TriRiver Water will not charge any late payment fees for the first 2 months of the transition period.
If your Siler City water utility bill drafts from your checking or savings account, that will automatically transfer over. However, if you use online bill pay to draft a check each month, you’ll need to update your records with your new account number and change the payee from “Town of Siler City” to “TriRiver Water.”
If you pay online, you will do so at www.TriRiverWater.com/Pay after July 8.
Customers who prefer to pay in person may do so at 311 North Second Avenue, Room 101 (first floor), Siler City, NC 27344, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Payment systems will be unavailable from July 1-7. Customers may begin making payments for their June bill to TriRiver Water on July 8.
